Friday Night Lights SPOILERS!
"NBC and DirecTV just hosted a little luncheon with the cast of TV's best drama series, Friday Night Lights, and as entertaining as it was, it was nothing compared to dessert: Shortly after the press conference, exec producer Jason Katims got into a huddle with a few select journalists and basically outlined his plans for the entire third season. Warning: Major, life-altering spoilers are below!
* If you're having a tough time coping with the impending loss of Gaius Charles' Smash and Scott Porter's Jason, wait until next year: Katims reveals that Tim, Matt, Tyra and Lyla are all entering their senior years this season. The knowledge that this may be their final year in Dillon will "add an urgency to [their] stories, but also a nostalgia."
* When the new season starts, eight months will have passed since the Season 2 finale, placing the action at the start of a new school year. Among the major developments: Tim and Lyla are now in a serious relationship. "We think it'll be a tremendously fun storyline, which could ultimately become very moving," Katims says. "It's one thing to have this passionate, secret relationship, but once they're in a real relationship, they see how different they are. They're completely an odd couple... Also, they're both seniors now, so it's really a question of, Where are they going now? Where are they headed? Lyla really tries to get Tim to be the best version of himself. (She wants him to) get into college, get a scholarship... But the question is whether these two are destined to have very different lives."
* The hiatus has not been nearly as kind to another Dillon super-couple: Tyra and Landry. "Tyra in the past eight months has [realized] that, while she loves Landry, she kind of feels like he's not really The Guy," says Katims. "So it becomes a story about, Are they going to be able to be friends? And will Landry be able to accept that?" Probably not when he meets the new Guy in her life, but more on that below.
* Matt and Julie will try and put the past behind them and become friends.
* As previously reported, Tami will be appointed the principal of Dillon High. "From the beginning, we wanted to find ways to get (Connie Britton) driving story as much as possible, and not just be the coach's wife," says Katims, adding that the new gig will lead to some serious tension at home. "Suddenly she (and Coach Taylor) may find (themselves) on opposite sides of some issues."
* Katims concedes that it was not easy placing the calls to Charles and Porter informing them that they're runs on the show were coming to an end. "It was very hard to break the news to them," he admits. Smash and Jason, however, will be going out with "two of the most powerful storylines" this season. "We are not doing this in any unceremonious way. And, also, we want to very much leave the door open for both of them to come back to the show."
* A handful of new characters will be introduced, including a freshman named J.D. McCoy. "He's a phenomenal quarterback," Katims explains. "In the first arc of the season, there's a controversy over who will be the first-string quarterback for the Panthers." Additionally, an old friend of Billy Riggins named Cash will make a play for Tyra. "He's a local rodeo star, so he's right in Tyra's wheelhouse. So Landry is not going to be (happy)."
* Matt Czuchry (Chris) and Benny Ciaramello (Santiago) will not be back.
* A renewed focus will be placed on the Landry/Matt friendship, a relationship Katims says got sidelined last season in the wake of the Landry/Tyra murder plot. "With that intense, secret thing between Landry and Tyra, we lost a little bit of Landry as Matt's buddy/sidekick/friend, and we're going to have that back."

"Despite last year's disaster at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears has an invitation to return – from her fans. The pop star was nominated in online voting for best female video for her Piece of Me at the 2008 VMAs, PEOPLE has learned. For now, she's the only nominee whose name has come out – the names of the other women in her category remain under wraps. The big question is whether Spears, 26, will make an appearance at show on Sept. 7 at Paramount studios in L.A. The singer will have to shake off her lackluster performance at the 2007 show in Las Vegas."

Suite Life on Deck to Premiere FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26!
Disney Channel will premiere the new comedy series "The Suite Life on Deck" on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). Starring fan favorites Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Phill Lewis, the series introduces 15-year-old actress Debby Ryan. "Music execs have been after the starlet for months now, ever since they go the scoop that Disney was crowning her as the next Miley Cyrus...
While Hollywood Records is part of the Disney Music Group, I'm told Gomez was courted by others because she doesn't have an exclusive deal.

In The CW’s much-talked-about 90210 update (premiering Sept. 2), a first-day-of-school ''love triangle'' forms when new girl Annie (Shenae Grimes, far left) bumps into couple Ethan (Dustin Milligan) and Naomi (Anna-Lynne McCord). ''It’s awkward for me because I learn that they had hung out before,'' McCord says. ''I’m like, Who is this girl? How does she know my boyfriend? It’s a typical high school moment.'' Debby Ryan NEW DISNEY TEEN QUEEN??
New rising star Debby Ryan is set to star in the spin off of the "Suite Life of Zack and Cody", "The Suite Life On Deck", as Bailey Pickett. She is also Staring in a new movie called "The Longshots" with Keke Palmer.
Debby in her own words explains how she got into acting, and what she calls "the dream" on her website.
"Ever since I was little, I was putting on shows and was involved in theater and in my private school. When I moved to Germany at 7 years old, I got involved in professional theater. I would go to the theater straight from school and usually stay late, finishing my homework and studying in between my scenes. I guess when I really started sacrificing to act, that's when the love for it was evident. At age 13, I was settled back in America when I realized that I wanted to act full-time.
It looked like it would never happen....
My mom submitted my headshot and resume' to a few agencies. After months of waiting, hoping and praying, I got picked up by Ivett Stone! It seemed like forever before I got my first audition. I was so excited when I found out I actually booked it! It was a small teenage spot on a Barney film. I felt that I was on my way, then things sort of slowed down. I sent video auditions to California. I continued to working for free just so I could act. I realized that unless acting played a significant role in my life, I wasn't happy.
Then, in 2007 everything started to fall into place...
I got signed with Kim Dawson Agency in Dallas and booked 2 national commercials: one for 'iDog Amp'd' and another for 'the Game of Life: Twists and Turns'. I sent in a video audition here and there but didn't hear anything. In the fall I got an audition for the feature film, "The Longshots". At the same time I sent in another video audition for a dream role working for an amazing network! . The role was so much fun and it was incredible to have the opportunity to audition. I created a video audition with Cathryn Hartt and it turned out to be my best video audition ever. We decided to mail in my very first take on the video! My mom sent it to California the next day.I was so happy to hear that I booked the small role of "Edith" in the upcoming feature film "The Longshots." I went to Louisiana to film and finished up March of 2008. I didn't hear anything back from my video audition for a long time. I had a hard time keeping this one out of my mind.
Then one day....
My agent Jennifer called and said that my video audition was being highly considered. They were very interested in me and wanted to see me in person! I could hardly believe it. I packed up for, yep, you guessed it, sunny California! After a nerve-wracking screen test (where they audition you against other actors and stars) and a long 6 days of waiting and hoping, I got a phone call that changed my life! Less than a week later I boarded a plane for L.A. and here I am! There will be a press release announcing my new role on a fantastic series.

Selena Wrote a Song About Nick??
Has Selena Gomez been writing songs about her rumored boyfriend Nick Jonas?A source claims that back in February, the star of Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place wrote a song inspired by the youngest brother of the hitmaking Jonas Brothers trio.
"They were writing lyrics for the bridge, and she was saying how Nick makes her so mad when he doesn't call her back," the source tells E! News about the tune, titled "Head First." "The verse was definitely written about Nick Jonas."
The source claims (as did People magazine yesterday) that Gomez, 16, and Jonas, 15, have been an item for several months.
Gomez's rep, however, insists the two are nothing more than a couple of good buddies.
"She is friends with all of the Jonas Brothers," the rep said. "Her best friend, Demi Lovato, is on tour with them, so it makes sense that she's been at some of their shows."
Just last month, Gomez predicted her personal life would undoubtedly become tabloid fodder. "Sometimes you can get caught up in the media, but I've just learned to not let it bother me, and I know that it's only going to get worse," she told me. "I think that with the support of my friends and family, that's all I need to pull me through."
